Overview
A major settlement situated upon the plains of Paden. It stands as the last safe haven on the road to the capital region. Guards are aplenty here, yet just as many are the bandits in “sheep’s clothing.” They treat this place as their own: resting, resupplying, trading, and gathering information to plan their raids right under the nose of the law.
Economy and Trade: The village does not lie on the main highway tract, but this does not prevent it from being one of the most frequently visited locales for merchants of all kinds. Provisions can be purchased here for a song from almost anyone you turn to. However, this cheapness is a trap for the parsimonious: without hiring mercenaries and paying out bribes, you will likely never deliver your goods to the next post in one piece.
Governance and Architecture: To the south of the village lies the residence of House de Valmont, completely occupying the only hill in the entire vicinity. Fortified wooden walls with a stone base guard their peace from the gaze of every green youth. The building itself is constructed according to the latest “fashion” of the Wenns, blending harsh defensive power with an elegance uncommon for these lands.
The Curse of the Dead
End Since 3798, at the expense of the Crown’s treasury, a decree was issued to construct a paved road to the village. But a decree is just words on parchment; the matter never moved from its initial and already dead point.
