Overview

Addictite is a legendary deep-purple ore that defined the rise and fall of the Vaelverian Era. Now classified as “Lost,” it is believed to lie only in the deepest and most inaccessible caverns beneath the Anomalous Sea. It is a material “locked in time”: although we possess its relics, the stone itself has vanished from the known world. It is not merely a source of power, but a beacon of madness, calling to the primal instincts of both man and beast.

It is not just a lost ore; it is the center of a growing web of radical theories and forbidden cults. To some, it is the “Supreme Grace”—the only material capable of truly bridging the gap between the earthly and the divine. These cults, calling themselves successors to the Vaelverian masters, are viewed by the United Church as a plague, leading to a silent but brutal war in the dark alleys of our cities.

Nature & Biological Influence

The essence of Addictite lies in its “Psionic Resonance.” With an ancient base potential of 7/10, it far surpasses any ores of our time. However, this power comes with a terrible price: Corruption of the Mind.

It acts as a “Beast Magnet,” drawing predators from leagues away and inducing violent psychosis in those who remain near it too long. It does not burn flesh like Heliot, nor does it mutate form like Mazurite; it eats away the will, leaving behind only an insatiable thirst for the purple glow.

History & Ancestry

There are too many theories, sometimes bordering on conspiracy. I tried to be selective, with the cold-blooded mindset of a scholar, but some delusional thoughts of cultists—I cannot help but include them in the annals of the codex—if only as an example of the degradation of the mind:

Cultist Sermon

His Majesty’s holiest patronage ensured his will with ignorance! The states of his soul are not peace, but only a greedy thirst for accumulation. Where has his world crashed? The Church says—inscribed markings are their property. But there is no owner of our faith, all-encompassing, tangible only in our—primordial world of dreams. They cannot reach our minds! They cannot reach our souls! They cannot find the way to our hall! We know the truth, and this truth is in purple tones—inky threads in the mist of delirium. Only by finding this thread, among a multitude of false ones—will you find the essence itself.

In trying to sort out what is what and who is who, I came to the conclusion that one should not meddle where reason has long since left the body.

From the diary of an Afir navigator

I am certain it is there—right in the center of the Anomalous Sea. Those Quinkestras just mocked me… but then, out on the street, he approached me—(erased)—and, oh holy Ellah, he believed me. I told him everything, where I saw the dull plum glow and where I felt the influence of the mind-numbing crystal upon myself.

Based on this navigator’s diary, the first cult was formed, claiming that the entire Anomalous Sea is a mirage of Addictite, and that is precisely why no one ever sails into its heart, and if any have—“they did not return as they were.”

Before Vaelveria, the purple ore gained no popularity among the former, more advanced rulers of the continent. There is not a single Addictite artifact produced before them. The Ardens Aeterna—a powerful artifact that has remained in an activated state for millennia with no intention of fading—is created from Heliot. Or the Flatus Novandi—its power is fed by energy the color of a lagoon. The most ancient artifacts that have reached current times bore not even a hint of Addictite.

Record regarding purple magical ore

The weight of the press will not overcome its strength on the first tries. The Hairets granted it a name in honor of its “attractiveness,” while the Planets curbed its porphyry pride with stabilizers the size of a tenth of my little finger. We, however, started the flow. But all this took millennia, and hundreds more years will go toward its real utility.

Before Vaelvere Fede, Addictite was a useless waste of time. The Vaelverians were the only ones who built a civilization entirely dependent on its resonance, abandoning the stable Mazurite of the Ancients. They developed specialized technologies to harmonize with the stone, including the now-forbidden practice of tattooing to… channel its energy? More likely for ritual needs. When their empire collapsed, the secret of working with Addictite died with them. Today we are left only with “Relics”—tools we can hold in our hands, but whose internal fire we are powerless to rekindle.

Extraction & Refining

Modern extraction is “Impossible.” The ore’s deposit in bottomless depths, combined with the extreme risk of psychosis and constant attacks by predators, turns any extraction attempt into a suicide mission.

Moreover, the refining process is a “Lost Technology.” We have a handful of sketches of Vaelverian factories, but without the ore to test them, they remain as incomprehensible as an alien tongue. We cannot refine what we cannot reach.

Storage

Transporting this ore is a logistical nightmare. The first attempts for the Vaelverians definitely ended in a one-way trip. But then, they invented sarcophagi and “will silencers,” the blueprints of which are used to this day… for storing Mazurite.

From historical references, one can glean only one important detail, likely a warning: caravans with Addictite are hunted not only by bandits—all beasts in the vicinity run towards “its call” as if rabid.

Applications

These objects possess monstrous power, often operating without visible fuel, but they are dangerous to the sanity of the owner or those around them. Modern engineers tried to adapt Vaelverian blueprints to Mazurite, but the result was always zero. Vaelverian art was created exclusively for Addictite. It remains a dream for cultists and a warning for scholars—a power that once touched the stars but left only a purple scar on the face of the world.
